The Shimano Stella 20000SW for salt water is geared up for catching those big fish. When you are hooked up to one of these monsters you will want a reel which can give as much as it takes.

When it comes to pushing the boundaries of fishing technologies, Shimano have always been the leaders and not the followers. The Shimano engineers manage to create a reel, which provides the very best in operational smoothness, and also have increased durability.

The Shimano Stella 20000SW reel itself has 14 anti-rust bearings, gear ratio of 4.4:1 and a line capacity of 460 yards of 20 pound fishing line. The retrieve per crank is set up to pull 41 inches of line per crank. That’s some serious credentials.

It also features Paladin gear durability enhancement, the Propulsion line management system, AreoWrap II, Cold Forged Aluminium Spool, SW Water Resistant body, SW Waterproof Drag, Aluminium side plate, frame and rotor. All of this plus many more Shimano quality features.

The experience of Shimano has allowed them to make a reel that can produce drag pressure maximum of 55 pounds. This gives the real enough low-down torque to play enormous gamefish. All this while maintaining an impeccably smooth and fluid operation.

Positive Reviews

I would recommend this reel to anyone. I had no troubles with it catching wahoo off the coast of Honduras. The live bait worked a treat!

by DreamFisher (Australia)

I use this reel probably around 4 to 5 times a week for bucktail fishing for large snook and redfish. So you can see that I have really given this reel a belting and other then a couple of minor scratches it still works perfectly. Like the day I bought it!

by Paul Kent (FL)

The Stella is very smooth  – Great job Shimano

by Chaz88 (SC)

This is an awesome reel, I caught a 10ft hammerhead on it! I have no doubt that this reel could even reel in a massive blue Marlin. Everyone should get one!! TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY!

The Most Powerful Fishing Reel

A lot of fishermen out there are looking for the most powerful fishing reel on the market. Why do they want this I wonder. Is it all about having the strongest reel or is it about being able to catch the bigger fish. There is a difference though. Some people want the biggest and baddest in fishing gear for no particular reason. Just because they think it looks good. This is true though. It does look good and you feel more powerful using it. The problem is that you can not rely on the best real to do all of the work. Sometimes you need a powerful reel but if you don’t know how to use it properly then you are in a little bit of trouble. You need to have the skill.

There are many of these awesome reels out there on the market. Look at the Penn Torque for example. This thing is built for absolute orperation brilliance. Then you can also look at the new 113HN Baja Special of the Penn family. It is also pretty awesome but doesn’t quite match up with the power. In my opinion the most powerful fishing reel on the market is the Shimano Stella Range.

To be clear I am not counting in the electric fishing reels or winches. They are a totally different story. Yes they are powerful but you have to draw the line somewhere. If I were to put these reel in the mix then it would be hard to go past the Daiwa reels out there on the market. These things are great and are probably the most powerful fishing reel you can get. It will do all of the work for you. I am actually surprised that not more people have one when you look at it. Maybe it’s the price. Anyway check out the reels on this site!!!

Do Reviews do New Reels Justice

The best way to find out if a reel is exactly what you need then you really need to use it and have an actual go. Reviews do new reels justice by telling you exactly what you need to know. This way you can get a really good feel of it first. The way the reel feels for you is really underrated in my opinion. A reel can have all of the bells and whistles but if it does not feel good in your hand than it will not perform for you exactly how you want it to. I don’t think this is too hard to believe. You just need to try it out. But this is not easy to do. Unless your local fishing store lets you try before you buy. That would be great wouldn’t it? If you could go and have a cast maybe even take it for a spin out with some real fish. That is the only way you can be sure that you are getting what you want. But in reality you cannot do this. You have to go with what others say about the reel and you have to make your best judgment. That is what is so great about the internet. You can get all of the opinions you need.

So do the opinions help you out really. I think the answer to this is yes. Do Reviews do justice of the actual reel when the author is not qualified. Then I think the answer is a clear no. The whole point to getting a good review is knowing that it is not biased and is as close as possible to a professional opinion. So go out and have a good look on the net for some quality opinions and views. Also the best views are ones from people who have actually used it!!

What is the Best Fishing Bait?

This is a question which I am sure has puzzled people for years! What is the best fishing bait in the world and what is the worst. All I know is that this is not any easy question to answer. I thought I would leave it to a few of my followers to put their points forward. I am sure that most people out there would have some pretty strong opinions. I have a look in my freezer and I find some interesting stuff. Worms, Prawns, Pilchards and White bait. I am going to say that guts is not going to be in the top. Worms have been said to be the best by a few people but why. Many of the fish that take the worms bait do not actually eat it when they are in there natural feeding habits. Worms are great how they can stay on the hooks so well. This is a really good thing though because they are quite expensive to get from the store.

Prawns are another bait which is often loved by rock and estuary fishing. They are also a little expensive. At one stage it was cheaper to buy fresh prawns by the kilo then to buy the old rotted prawns found in your fishing shops freezer. These are great and there is big debate over whether you should do anything to them first before they start to thread them on your line. Some say to keep everything on the prawn and just thread it on. This works best because it allows the barbs on the hook to dig into the prawn without much troubles. Others think we should put them on the same way we like to eat them. In my opinion I like to do a little in between. What do you think? What is the best fishing bait?

Tips on catching beach worms

People may find it easier if they had some tips on catching beach worms. I have been doing it for some time now and I must say it is a bit of an art if you are not use to it. What you need to concentrate on is what is going on around you with respect to waves and sand type. I say sand type because it is often a lot harder to catch worms if they sand is quite large grained. I like to worm on beaches which have very fine sand and preferably on a beach which is very flat. If you are worming on a very steep beach then it doesn’t leave you much time in between the waves to catch them. In saying that I do have a bit of a theory about catching worms with water over it.

I think they are a little easier to catch if they covered in sea water. I think this may be because when they are out in the open they are very timid. All you have to do is touch them a little bit and they will pull back into the ground, not to be seen again for a while. The problem with this is that you have to get good at catching them with water rushing around in front of you and over your legs. It means that you have to do most of your work with just your hands and not much to do with your site. This often means that you can catch the bigger ones because the large mummers are often deep and down the beach further. Once you find one you have to be quick to get there but not quick to dig your fingers into the sand. Even the slightest bit of movement that the worm picks up will make them weary and mean they will not hunch out as far. When I say hunch they lift the back out to pull in the prize.

A tip on catching beach worms is to wait for the third hunch to squeaze and pull if you can. A lot of the time you will find that the waves will not let you but it is often best to be patient. The worm will not go away if you are doing everything correctly. This is when it is very important to not touch or disturb the worm. The worms do not have any eyes so they go off what they feel. You will really need to watch out for this. Even back away if there is a large wave coming through. I know it is easy to say and often quite hard to do but you need to be very patient. Even if there are lots of worms hanging around you need to make each individual worm your priority to catch.

If you have a bit of fish in your hand you should use this to feed the worm and keep it interested. They don’t like it when you keep pulling it away from it. It will often get frustrated with this and pull away anyway. Keep an eye out on the conditions and try some of these things. I hope that these tips on catching beach worms serves you well.

Why Buy a Shimano Stella Reel?

The above is a very good question. You need to know for sure that a reel is going to be perfect for you before you go and spend money on it. Especially when you go to buy a Shimano Stella reel because these reels are not cheap. You will want it to last the test of time and you will also want it to not break down. Now you may think that if you are buying a reel for this much money then you will want it to last and take a battering. Well this is partly true for most robust kinds of spinning reels. The reason that I say partly is because any reel still needs you to look after it.

You need to clean it after every use and also get it serviced from time to time. This is not saying anything bad about the reel. It is a fundamental to looking after any expensive piece of machinery. If you are buying a brand new 100 thousand dollar car then you still need to service it don’t you? It is the same if you buy a Shimano Stella reel. You have to treat it like an expensive reel. It takes little time to clean a reel anyway so look at it as a bit of a warm down ritual. So what do you get for this sort of money on a good reel. Well the best thing about buying a reel from a very trusted brand is that you know that this brand has made its way to the top of the market for a reason.

Shimano has been around for quite a long time and this is for good reason. They spend a lot of money on research and development. This means that you will get the best reel and the engineering behind it is top class and very current. You don’t want to get stuck with a reel that is out dated and not performing like the other better ones on the market. You have to know this before you go and attempt to buy a reel that is nowhere near as good a quality and less money. Money is spent for a reason with fishing gear and it is to get the best. Yes there are some subtle differences between the top fishing reels but the engineering behind them all is pure professionalism. The materials that are used to make these reels also have to be the best and the best is usually quite expensive and also heavy but strong. You will find that some people think these reels are a little heavy. If you are worried about breaking a fingernail then I do not suggest you buy a Shimano Stella reel.

Have a look at a review of each of the reels in the Shimano Stella range on this site. I hope you find the information useful and you can find which specifications of the Stella reels will suit your fishing needs. And also make sure that the reel will suit your budget. Always remember though that when you buy a good reel it will last and be more like a good investment. Invest wisely!

A Good Reel for Big Fish

The great barrier reef is one of the most well know reefs in the world. What makes it so special is the coral that you will find. You need a good reel for big fish. This is something that gets thrown around a little bit but you will find that it is mostly true. You don’t have people especially those who call themselves professionals using bad quality reels. The best thing to do is to do a little bit of research first and then go and catch them. This may sound a little easy but I know from experience that this really does work if you give it a go.

The best of the biggest fish to catch while you are on the great barrier reef is the Red Emperor. This fish is a beautiful looking fish and it also tastes great. What I find best is when you go out to hook one and you end up catching more than one. This means that you have fish galore on your line and you do not have to do that much to hook them. This is if you have the right gear. These fish do not come into the boat easily. But isn’t that one of the best parts. You get to fight with the fish for a little while and then when you finally get it in you feel like you have accomplished something.

You have to have a good a big fish. Shimano is a good reel for big fish. There are many types of Shimano’s out there but at this site you can get some unbiased reviews on a couple of my specialties. The best ones are the ones that I review and I know that they work. They are built tough and enable you to catch fish with the right line. Line is also very important. Many think that the reel does all of the work with the drag and other parts but the line is the stuff holding onto the fish. To have a good reel for big fish you also need to have good line for big fish. Braid is great as it is one of the strongest lines out there. But the problem is that sometimes it can tangle a little which makes it very hard to undo. I like to use it and just be careful not to tangle it up too much.

Spider wire is also pretty useful for catching big fish. It would have to be a pretty big and powerful fish to break spider wire. If you have this sort of gear then you will have no trouble pulling in one of those trophy fish that everyone wants. In my opinion red emperor are what I go out to catch. They are one of the greatest fish because they are so tasty and big. Go out and catch one and you will see what I mean. Also check out this sit for a good reel for big fish. User feedback is the best for finding out what works and what reels are the duds out there that cost you way too much money.

Catching Ocean Fish

How good is it when you can catch a bit heap of fish and crabs in the same spot. I love when I find one of places. It feels like you are at your own fish store. You can get a lot of different types of fish while you have the crab pots in and you also have your cast net on stand by for any passing prawns. Mud crabs are my favorite or all. You always have to make sure that the mud crabs are of legal size though. There is no point taking some home if you end up getting into trouble for them. Also make sure that the crabs are not female. I find that river mouths are the best for these sorts of catches.

You need to sit right in the mouth of a small estuary and be prepared. Being prepared means that you have more then one line in the water. You can do this by rigging them up before you head out. Then get some good rod holders that are on the side of your boat. By doing this you can give yourself the most chance of catching a fish. Also estuaries are great for catching crabs. You need to know that there are some in the area. If not then you might not be in the right area. The fishing line you have is also very important. You may think that the use of fishing line has only one reason. But you will find that if you use the right fishing line you will give yourself the best chance of landing those fish.

Catching the fish is one thing but if you do not have the gear to pull it all the way to your boat then you may have some troubles. The line needs to be chosen after thinking more about the size of the fish. What sort of water you are in is very important. A fluro carbon leader is also a good idea. Braid line on the beach is not always a good idea. If the surf is a little rough then you will get too many tangles. The braid in the beach is never a good idea. You would know this from a bit of experience. But then you look for braid when you are rock fishing. It doesn’t get tangled as much and it is a bit stronger. This is what you want when you are rock fishing.

Untangling braid is a real headache so try and stay away from doing this in any situation. Especially when time is of the essence. Fine line is better for casting for accuracy. You can do this with light lures or soft plastics and it seems to work better then most. If you combo it up then you will always be looking good. You need to know what line works each situation especially when you are ocean fishing. You want to have the best chance of catching ocean fish and bringing them onto your boat. Good luck and remember to check out Fishing Reel Reviews for some great information before purchasing.

What saltwater fishing reel is best?

This is a difficult question to answer as there are many great off shore fishing reels on the market. But if I was put on the spot and told you my opinion of the what saltwater fishing reel is best then I would be able to narrow it down to a few. My favorite by far is the Penn Torque Spinning reel. Now I am not sure if it would suit what you are after. It is a bit of a personal preference of mine and I really trust the Penn brand. Another brand which I enjoy using is Shimano. Shimano have so many good reels on the marked an a lot of them a specialty saltwater reels. This means that they are made from the best material that can last a long time even in these conditions. This doesn’t mean that you don’t have to clean it though. No matter how good the reel is you will still need to clean it.

==> Penn Torque Spinning Reel <==

Tarpon fishing is a lot of fun and you will find that many people like to have separate reels just for this fish. This amazes me a little but it shows that there are reels that work best for different situations. The thing that I don’t really understand about catching tarpon is that they are really bad eating. I like to catch fish that I can have fun catching and then go back home and eat. Tarpon a really bony and not nice at all.  They do jump out of the water though and give you a bit of a fight so I can see the good in that. Sometimes you can even look at used reels but unless you can get it for a good price I don’t think it is really worth it. If you buy one that has not been looked after it is a little hard to tell until you use it. Tuna is my sort of style and you need a specialty saltwater reel for catching these. This is because you don’t want the metal to rust. Tuna is so much fun to catch and unlike the tarpon, they are beautiful to eat. As you probably know.

==> Shimano Talica ii <==

A lot of the fish all the way off shore have really nice meat. Just letting you know so you can see that if you have really good saltwater fishing reel then you can catch some pretty good fish with it and it is worth the money. I don’t worry about it but a lot of fishermen complain about a reel being a little heavy. I know that I would rather have a reel that is a little heavy and then I know at least that it is a good reel and will not just fall apart. We are men, the reels are not designed for women so they can be a little heavy. There are some modern and light weight reels on the market which a lot of people enjoy using. In my opinion though I do not trust a reel that feels light weight. What saltwater reel is the best is the one that you trust and you know is made for fishing off shore.

Best Fishing Reel for Saltwater

Even the Best Fishing Reel for Saltwater needs to be cleaned. The worst thing about cleaning your tackle is if something goes wrong. Like if a spring comes out and then you cannot find where it goes! So why do you do it yourself. Why don’t you just pay someone to just do it properly for you. That way you know it is being done correctly and you to not have to spend your precious time fiddling around with it and trying to clean every little nook and cranny in the reel. Well cleaning a reel is not actually that hard to do.

==> Shimano Saltwater Fishing Reels <==

You will find that the reel is quite easy to clean if you know exactly what you are doing. And also it can save you money. If you have the time on your hands and you are pretty good with handling your reel then you should give it a go. So where do you start. If your reel is broken then you should not even attempt to clean it as you may end up breaking it even more. What you should do is clean your reel if you have had it for a little bit so that it will work smoother the next time you use it. You know those times when you go out on your boat and you realize that you should have probably cleaned it first. This is usually because you can hear the scrapping sound of one of the mechanics rubbing up against a piece of sand.

==> Penn Fishing Reels <==

By cleaning your reel quite often and also doing what you can to oil it will help it to work smoothly over time and also last for longer. If the reel has not been fully submerged in saltwater then you may be right not to pull the whole thing apart. But you may have to if it has been over 5 or so years since it has last been pulled apart and cleaned. Wash your reel after every trip and you will be surprised with how long the reel will last. Don’t just walk in after a fishing trip and throw your rod and reel on the rack for next time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci4RykxnjwQ

Don’t just spray it with the hose either because you will find that the reel will need a good wash and not just a spray down. The spray of a hose does not get rid of that crusty bit of salt layer on the surface. You need to get in there with a brush like a toothbrush and some soap. By washing them with salt nearly every day you can prevent the build up of this layer. Just remember that every time you finish fishing you need to give it a little wash down and a brushing.  So make sure that if you want to keep your best fishing reel for saltwater clean and working fresh then wash it when you can.

For Big Fish You Need the Best Saltwater Reels 2011

Tropical snappers and sea perches are some of my favorite fish to catch when I am out reef fishing. There are many reason for this but most of all I love that eating of these fish. There are lots of fish out there which you will have a good time catching and put up a good fight. But, if you do not like the taste of them then I do not find that that is what I want. I want fish that are great to eat but are also fun to catch. The main thing with these fish is being able to identify them.

==> Check out Fishing Reel Reviews for the Best 2011 Saltwater Reels <==

Some people like to take a book out with them. Just like having the best saltwater reel this bit of gear is also very important. The book is usually to help identify the fish for what they are all the way down to the species of them. This is best so that you know if the fish is good to eat. Also you want to know what the size limit and bagging limits are. The size limits is usually so that you are not catching fish which have not got to their breeding age yet. You do not want to take young fish that haven’t had the chance to reproduce yet.

==> Check Out the Top of the Range Penn Torque <==

That is bad for future fish stocks. The thing with juvenile snappers and sea perches is that the colration is often quite different to the adult’s. Most of the tropical snappers and sea perches are easy to identify when they are adults. So if you do have a fish that looks a little small and maybe the color hasn’t quite set in then it is too small to keep. Most of these fish have strong spinous dorsal fins. This means the their dorsal fins are ore or less continuous which may be slightly notched between the spinous an dthe soft parts. These fish although may look really nice are a carnivorous breed and will mostly fish at night.

==> Check out the Top of the Range Shimano Stella 20000 <==

This is why you will mostly catch them in either the early morning or the late night. You will find that there are a lot more of them getting around at these times. You do have to watch out for some of the species and also the big ones. There is a disease called ciguatera which is quite dangerous to humans. A problem with having the best saltwater reel is you catch these big fish. The ciguatoxin carriers are usually the larger fish but are also found in some species no matter what size they are. The hussar fish is one of those fish that I love to catch. They have a very distinctive pink complexion.

==> Also if you have time Check out the Daiwa Tanacom Bull 1000 <==

So look out for these fish with the rosy pink upper body and a pale belly. But they are not covered in pink. They have a yellow band from the gill cover to the tail fin. There is also yellow patch around the eyes which smudges slightly as the yellow patch get closer to the snout. The dorsal, pelvic and anal fins are edged with white and have pink bands. If you have time you should check this site out for the 2011 Best Saltwater Reels.
